The only complaint is the phone service.You can wait 20 minutes to get through, other than that there are few better surgeries.

Today (Tuesday after the Bank Holiday)I had to visit the surgery after spending all weekend suffering from an incident that happened the previous Friday. I was advised to come to the surgery and queue for an appointment. There were 8 people in front of me. The doors were opened on time and all were greeted with a cheery welcome. I waited my turn and was then seen by a wonderfully professional and caring receptionist (H) who told me that she could get me a place with a Nurse Practitioner, but that her surgery wouldn't start for another 30 minutes. Within an hour of surgery starting I was seen by Barbara. Within 10 minutes she had given me the best care and attention I have received for a long while. She made suitable arrangements for a change of medication, notified my employers, gave me information on further self-help and re-checked that I was happy with what she had said, even consulting a Doctor to confirm the treatment. I hadn't been to the surgery for a long while, but today I was made to feel very important and special. I only had to walk next door for my prescription, and their work was done. A great weight was lifted, and I am grateful to all the staff who put their patients first with such excellent service.

Today my wife was having serious problems breathing, and had a suspected chest infection. At around 10.00 am she phoned the surgery and spoke to a lady on the phone. After explaining her symptoms the lady advised my wife to come down to the surgery straight away. I took my wife down there and we saw Barbara, the Nurse, almost immediately. She examined my wife in details and prescribed an alternative antibiotic. From the phone call to examination was less than 1.5 hours. First class service and, again, thank you BMC. 5+star service Carer

Yesterday I had to contact the surgery regarding additional medicine my wife urgently required (antibiotics) . I phoned the surgery at 0800 and got through almost immediately. The lady who answered me was very polite, took all my details and said I would be contacted later that day. Sure enough, later that day, Barbara (Nurse Practitioner) rang and discussed my wife’s problems. She immediately issued a prescription and I had the drugs required within the hour. 5* service from Birchington Medical Centre again. My thanks to all involved. (Carer)

Would prefer patient and doctor confidentiality. Would prefer not to wait 45 mins to see the doctor. Would prefer an appointment when I phone not wait for a call back especially if taking time out from work.
